Digital Terrestrial reception in Spain
Televisión Digital Terrestre (TDT) is the Spanish equivalent of the Freeview channels available in the UK. As in the UK, Spain has an analogue switch off timetable with all broadcasting only available in digital quality thereafter.
The date for cut-off has been set for
03rd April, 2010.
Depending on where you are, there are as many as 34 channels available. Some of these channels are in English or have the facility to change the audio setting back to English if the programme/film was originally made in America/UK.
Digital Terrestrial Aerial Installation
To be TDT compatible you will need:-
- A Digital Terrestrial Antenna erected on a bracket at the right polarisation
- Complete with a good quality coaxial cable & connectors
- If your TV doesn't already have a good inbuilt digital TV tuner you will also require a digital terrestrial receiver
- Depending on your reception area a mast head amplifier may also be required
- Internal distribution can be achieved with either a 2, 4, 6 or 8 way indoor amplifier
